When vending machines are equipped with a computer (typically Android) and connected to a cellular modem or IP address, they essentially become “smart.” This enables features that were once unimaginable in traditional vending.

The most common innovation is the User Interface (UI)—a touchscreen that allows users to scroll through high-resolution digital product images. These products, once only purchasable with cash or coins, can now be bought using cashless payment options like credit cards and mobile wallets such as Apple Pay. Acceptance of certain networks depends on the payment processor. Kiosoft, however, seamlessly supports all major networks, including American Express. Important: Nicotine-related transactions processed through Nayax via Chase are no longer eligible for Amex and involve additional compliance hurdles that are nearly impossible to meet.
