Vending Machines with ID Verification | VapeTM

Apt-Verify Integration

Advanced age verification, when a barcode isn't enough.

For high-traffic, high-liability venues that need to catch fake, expired, and borrowed IDs. Powered by VapeTM's Apt-Verify integration.

$1.00 Per transaction
~15s Verification time
3-Step Identity check
API Integrated with VMS
How It Works

Three-step verification, in about fifteen seconds.

The customer's smartphone handles the heavy lifting. The machine handles the rest. No extra hardware to install.

1

Scan the QR code

The machine displays a one-time QR code. Customer scans it with their phone to start the flow.

2

Capture ID and selfie

Customer photographs the front and back of their ID, then takes a live selfie for biometric matching.

3

Authenticate

Apt-Verify confirms the document is real, checks expiration, and matches the selfie to the ID photo.

4

Purchase unlocks

Once all checks pass, the machine releases the age-restricted aisle. The whole flow takes about 15 seconds.

What Apt-Verify catches that a barcode scan can't.

Standard barcode scanning confirms what's encoded on the card. Apt-Verify confirms who's actually holding it.

Fake IDs

Document authentication checks security features and formatting against known templates to flag forgeries.

Expired IDs

Real-time validation of the issue and expiration dates. Expired credentials are rejected automatically.

Borrowed IDs

Live selfie capture matches the customer's face to the ID photo. A friend's license won't work.

Standard ID Scanner vs. Apt-Verify

Both are built into the VapeTM platform. Pick the right tool for the venue.

Standard ID Scanner

Free per scan
  • Reads PDF417 barcode
  • Confirms encoded age
  • Under 2 seconds
  • No data stored
  • Detects fake IDs
  • Detects borrowed IDs

Apt-Verify

$1.00 per transaction
  • Document authentication
  • Real-time expiration check
  • Live biometric selfie match
  • Smartphone-based flow
  • Detects fake IDs
  • Detects borrowed IDs

Built for high-liability environments.

Apt-Verify is designed for venues where the cost of a missed underage sale outweighs the per-transaction fee.

Hotels and resorts

Guest demographics shift hourly. Reliable identity verification protects the property and the brand.

Transit hubs

Airports, train stations, and travel centers see millions of unfamiliar IDs from every state and country.

Stadiums and venues

Crowd-pressure environments where attendants can't realistically inspect every ID by hand.

Casinos and gaming

Regulatory scrutiny is high. Auditable, tamper-resistant verification matches the compliance bar.

Strict-jurisdiction operators

Cities and counties that require third-party authentication beyond barcode-only methods.

High-volume bars and clubs

Venues where bouncers can't always be at the door, and the door isn't always near the machine.

Apt-Verify FAQ

Do I need both the ID Scanner and Apt-Verify?

No. Most operators run the standard ID Scanner since it covers compliance for the majority of venues at zero per-scan cost. Apt-Verify is for locations where you need higher identity assurance, such as catching fake or borrowed IDs. You can also enable Apt-Verify on a subset of machines while leaving the rest on standard barcode scanning.

Does Apt-Verify require new hardware?

No. Apt-Verify runs through the customer's smartphone. The machine displays a QR code, the customer completes the verification on their phone, and the machine receives the result via API. No camera, no biometric reader, and no scanner hardware needs to be installed at the machine.

How does the $1.00 per transaction billing work?

You're billed $1.00 each time a customer completes an Apt-Verify check. There are no monthly platform fees and no charges for verifications that fail or are abandoned mid-flow. Most operators set the per-machine retail price to absorb the cost.

What happens if Apt-Verify rejects an ID?

The machine declines the transaction and the age-restricted aisle stays locked. The customer gets a clear on-screen message and can retry with a valid ID. Failed attempts are logged in the VMS for compliance auditing.

Can I switch between Apt-Verify and the standard ID Scanner?

Yes. The verification method is configured per machine in the VapeTM Vending Management System. You can enable Apt-Verify at one location, run barcode-only at another, and adjust either at any time without an on-site visit.

Does Apt-Verify store customer data?

Apt-Verify processes ID images and biometric data through its own platform to perform the authentication. VapeTM receives only the pass or fail result and a verification reference ID. For the specifics of Apt-Verify's data retention policy, contact our team and we'll provide the current documentation.
